The Technical Service Team at Carus consists of John Boll, Darin Skutt, Tina Garcia, and Dylan Kemmerer. The team provides a range of laboratory and field services to our customers. Laboratory testing includes permanganate natural oxidant demand tests (PNOD) to determine how much permanganate is required for an application, permanganate residual testing, volatile organic compound (VOC) testing, and treatability studies using site-specific conditions. Calibration of spectrophotometers, rental of spectrophotometers, and shipping of standards and samples are also provided by the tech service team. Field services include equipment rental and start-up, safety training, on-site residual testing, and application training on the use of permanganate.
Mr. John Boll is currently the Global Technical Program Manager for Carus. John has been with Carus for over 40 years, serving in a variety of sales and marketing positions. The technical service department provides chemistry and applications customer support, including on-site lab testing and plant-scale start-up and troubleshooting services. John often presents both externally and webinars on topics of permanganate and others. John earned his B.A in engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) where he served as the AWWA, Illinois Section Chair from 1992 to 1993.
Darin Skutt has worked for Carus for 18 years with the last 3 years as the Technical Service Manager. As the Technical Service Manager, Darin conducts laboratory testing and product demonstrations for Carus municipal, industrial, and environmental customers and prospective new customers. These product demonstrations include technical training, safety presentations, and installation of safe chemical handling and dosing systems. He is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL with a BS degree in Chemistry, ACS Certified. Mr. Skutt is a member of AWWA, Water Environment Federation, and the American Chemical Society.
In Darin's spare time he enjoys playing board games with friends, trying to beat his friends at fantasy football, and reading comic books. Interesting Fact: Darin has attended ComiCon for 15 straight years!
Tina Garcia is the Sr. Technical Service Specialist for drinking water and wastewater. This includes phosphate water analysis, corrosion coupon analysis, field equipment, shipping samples, supporting the Sales Team and building relationships with her customers. She started at Carus in 1989 as Laboratory Assistant, then became a Phosphate Water Technician before moving into her current role.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family. In her downtime she enjoys traveling, shopping, watching movies, cooking, her pets, walking, and playing games.
Dylan Kemmerer is Carus’s Technical Service Chemist. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with ACS certification from Bradley University. In school, Dylan’s focus was on instrumental analysis and organic chemistry. He joined Carus in 2013 as a Technician in the Quality Control department. In 2014 he entered the position of Technical Service Chemist where he specializes in customer services samples regarding Remediation and CARULITE® catalysts along with general sales support. What Dylan enjoys about his job is working with the sales team and customers to design projects and experiments to test various product lines for field application.
In his downtime, Dylan enjoys working out, playing sports such as golf or softball, or just being outside running, fishing or kayaking. Also, he loves spending time with his high school sweetheart and now wife and their cat and their new dog.
