Carus is excited to welcome local students back this summer for the 24th Annual Carus Summer Science Camp, a hands‑on STEM experience designed to spark curiosity and creativity in young learners.
The weeklong camp will be held at St. Bede Academy in Peru, Illinois, from Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17. Sessions will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a graduation ceremony on Friday to celebrate participants and their accomplishments.
Designed for students entering 6th grade this fall, the camp introduces key science, technology, engineering, and math concepts through interactive experiments, demonstrations, and problem‑solving activities. Rather than learning science from a textbook, students are encouraged to explore, test ideas, and work collaboratively in an engaging, hands‑on environment.
The program is led by experienced local educators and continues to attract students from LaSalle, Bureau, and Putnam counties each year. Its emphasis on active participation and real‑world exploration has made it a favorite summer program for families across the area.
“What makes this program unique is the hands‑on experience, because it gives students the chance to actually explore and experiment, not just learn about science from a distance,” said Jake Kowalczyk, Sr. Communications Manager at Carus. “It’s always exciting to see how quickly the camp fills up each year. That kind of response tells us students are genuinely curious and eager to learn more about the world of STEM.”
Registration is free, but spots are limited and filled on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Families are encouraged to register early.
Now in its 24th year, the Carus Summer Science Camp reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to STEM education and to supporting the communities where Carus employees live and work.
