Today, Carus Summer Science Camp concluded with an informal graduation ceremony at Saint Bede Academy. Marking its 22nd year, the camp has offered a free, enriching experience to over 625 local students entering the sixth grade since its inception in 2001.
Directed by Dan Fitzpatrick of Saint Bede Academy, with assistance from Angelique Depenbrock of LaSalle-Peru Township High School and valued volunteer Ken Pisarczyk, the camp provided an immersive week in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Throughout the week, students enjoyed engaging demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and informative tours, including visits to a water treatment plant and the historic Hegeler-Carus Mansion.
The camp concluded today with the much-anticipated competitive rocket launches, a tradition that continues to inspire and excite the young participants.
